Welcome to Laughlin, Nevada,
where the Colorado River winds it way through the Mojave Desert,
creating a desert oasis that lures abundant and distinctive birds
and wildlife.
Roadrunners and cactus wrens are plentiful
in the arid desert, but hundreds more remarkable bird species live
here as well - including two endangered varieties: the Yuma clapper
rail and the southwestern willow flycatcher.
Havasu
National Wildlife Refuge, a 37,000-acre sanctuary, is just a
30 minute drive from Laughlin. Visitors flock to the refuge to boat
through the spectacular Topock Gorge, watch water birds in Topock
Marsh, or hike to the Havasu Wilderness Area.
But birds are not the only creatures that
enjoy southern Nevada...
